Ulcerative Colitis is a medical condition that you don’t want to ever experience, also, it’s known as “UC”. UC is characterized by the chronic inflammation of the large intestine, which is also called as the colon. The colon stores waste and waster. is attached to the rectum.. Those patients who suffer from Ulcerative Colitis will have abdominal pain, bleeding in the rectum and extreme diarrhea. These problems are caused by ulcers and inflammation of the lining of the colon.

Ulcerative Colitis is a condition that in the same classification as as Crohn’s disease Ulcerative Colitis affects men and women the same and it usually starts during the adolescence and early adulthood and lasts through old age. Exact reasons for ulcerative colitis to occur is not known. It is believed that it may be caused by some abnormal activity in the immune system. It considered a very good possibility that UC may very well be genetically inherited.

There are different types of ulcerative colitis. These types include: ulcerative proctitis, which is actually the inflammation caused in the rectum area. Because of this, a person feels the need to go to the restroom very frequently. Another type of ulcerative colitis is Proctosigmoiditis, which is an inflammation of the rectum as well as swelling of the sigmoid colon. The sigmoid colon is a small part of the colon adjacent to the rectum. This may leed to bleeding from the rectum. Proctosigmoiditis also causes an urgent need to go to the bathroom frequently and this feeling is accompanied by great discomfort and cramping in the left side of the abdomen.
