Resume Posting Service Review

You can search for jobs one at a time, or you can have hundreds of employers searching for  you!

There are four kinds of resume posting services that most job seekers have considered at one time or another. Effectiveness varies between them, and I recommend that you utilize only two of the four methods. In fact utilizing one of them can actually be counterproductive and harmful to your job search and even to your career.

  1. Resume Databank Posting - Career sites like Job.com, Beyond Monster, 6FigureJobs, and many others all allow you to post to their resume databanks for free. See a complete list of sites that we research and recommend.
  2. Sending Resumes to Recruiters - Services will email or fax your resume to recruiters who have signed up and opted in and are willing and waiting to receive resumes for candidates actively looking for work.
  3. Sending Resumes Directly to Companies - Services, sometimes combined with those that send to recruiters will also send your resume directly to companies. Note: weighing the pros and cons of this method, for most job seekers, especially those who wish to work with recruiters, emailing your resume unsolicited to companies is not recommended by us.
  4. Faxing or Mailing Your Resume Directly to Hiring Managers - Resume services that will fax a physical copy of your resume to hiring mangers.

Resume Databank Posting

Of all the methods, this one should be a cornerstone to your marketing efforts. If you haven't already done so, please read our review of the resume databank posting method.

If you are not posting your resume to numerous resume databanks, you are missing out on more than 75% of the opportunities that are available to you. The greatest benefit to posting your resume online is than you automatically jump one, two, or three steps closer to potential job opening and to hiring managers.

When you apply to a job, your resume can get sent the HR department, a recruiter, or directly to the hiring manager. From there your resume must compete against an average of 600 other resume and must make it through numerous reviews and screenings before you are considered for a job interview.

The same trend that makes the Internet so good at putting candidate's resumes in front of hiring managers is the same reason, hiring managers don't advertise as many job openings. The shear number of responses makes finding candidates time consuming and expensive.ive.

A growing trend is for hiring managers, HR managers, and recruiters is to first use resume databanks to find and contact candidates directly. A candidate found in a resume databank automatically jumps to the head of the line in the following ways:

  • Does not compete against 600 other candidates
  • Resumes are pre-qualified, and pre-screened before candidates are contacted
  • Candidates begins the job search process at the interview stage
  • Competes against an average of 6 other candidates
  • Has the negotiating advantage of being contacted first

That other resume sent into a singe job opening is fighting against 600 other resumes to gain the attention of the hiring manger, and is probably stuck in a review process, while the hiring manger is thinking of better more efficient ways to find qualified candidates.

By posting your resume to ten, twenty, fifty or seventy resume databanks, your resume is stored and searched for hundreds and hundreds of times over many months.

There are many good, well respected resume databanks that you have probably never heard of. Marketing yourself, like marketing anything else, is a numbers game. The more resume databanks you post to, the more times your resume will be found.

Job Seekers Do Not Post to Enough Resume Boards

Most job seekers simply do not realize the tremendous leverage they gain by posting their resume to dozens of resume databanks. Posting to the top 15 or 20 resume databanks takes an hour or so.

Not knowing the leverage they gain by posting to multiple resume databanks, job seekers are inclined to search out single job openings and apply to them one at a time.

Since marketing yourself is a number's game, post to as many resume databanks as you can. We've evaluated 500 or so such databanks and we update our list of the best places to post your resume for free. So, please use it.

Posting to all the viable boards will give you exposure to around two million recruiters, hiring mangers, and HR managers who are seeking candidates today.

If you simply don't have the time, there are services that will post your resume to resume databanks, and we've reviewed all of them and make our recommendation below.
